Each year, National Wildlife receives thousands of submissions for its annual
photo contest. The contest is extremely competitive not only because of the large number
of entrants, but also the exceptional quality that so many pictures demonstrate. In past
years, the editors have been limited to choosing only a handful of winners. Now, through
PhotoZone, National Wildlife is able to extend recognition to another level of
finalists.
From sparring eagles, to clinging opossums, to a miraculous birth of a zebra foal, these
carefully chosen images are inspiring reminders of why we love wildlife and wild places,
and why it is our duty to protect them. Current and past selections are available in an
online slide show. The finalists were selected on the basis of originality, composition
and technical execution.
